Financial Assistance

Image of a binder opened to the fourth section entitled Economics. On the open binder page is a collage of pictures of money, a stack of mail, and a disabled woman looking over bills. Text Reads: Title: Financial Independence and Employment.

When a special need impacts the ability to hold gainful employment, it may become difficult to maintain financial independence. Public benefit programs may be able to supplement or replace some the lost income. If a special need is limiting a person's financial independence, SSI, SSDI, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are three programs available through the SSA that can help. You can get more information in the AWSN guide or by reviewing the "Government Assistance Programs" module.
