Video of B J's Story.

BJ was no different from the other babies at the hospital. It was only the unwrapping of the blanket that revealed his 4 lb body and a totally absent right lower extremity. We knew what we had to do-seek and hope to find the best medical attention for our precious child. We were uncertain about his future. We knew he needed long-term physical and occupational therapy, and perhaps surgery. One of my fears was that my husband could be reassigned elsewhere when I needed him most. We were fortunate to be in the EFMP program because wherever we went, the program ensured my son received the needed medical and educational support-the quality of life he deserves. The staff members at these different facilities became our support team. Through the EFMP, we also had the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate with other EFMP families. We now know we are not alone in this world. BJ, like any other typical ten-year-old boy, continues to inspire us all. Nothing stops him. Two years ago we discovered he's gifted. He plays the piano and cornet, enjoys karate lessons, and sings in the St. Luke Catholic Church's junior choir. He has a positive outlook on life and a contagious smile. Thank you, EFMP.
