Post-Secondary Transition Planning

Introduction

”Unique video plays in the screen center.”

As students complete their high school education, they need to have developed the skills necessary to prepare them for their transition from the world of school to the world of adulthood. Whether pursuing some form of post-secondary education or entering the world of work, it is essential that all students develop the skills they need to become a functioning adult in the community. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) recognizes the importance of ensuring that children with disabilities have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers to develop the skills they need for their post-secondary education and work life. IDEA provides special education transition services to students 16 years of age and older.
