Mobilizing Informal Networks to Support Service Members and Military Families

Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP), The University of Georgia Family and Community Resilience Laboratory (UGA), and The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Social Work collaborate to provide military family program leadership with evidence-based community capacity building strategies.


The Thrift Savings Plan

The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is a government-sponsored program providing retirement income for military service members and federal civilian employees. Although contributing to the TSP is optional, many service members take advantage of it because their contributions are tax deferred.

In recognition of the changing nature of today's all-volunteer military force and in response to lessons learned from a decade of combat operations, the DoDI 1342.22 modernizes the Department's approach to family readiness.
