Army Wounded Warrior (AW2) Program The AW2 Program serves severely wounded, injured, and ill Soldiers and their families, wherever they are located. The AW2 website provides promotional materials to educate service providers and Soldiers about the program.
The National Defense Authorization Act 2014, Section 633, requires each secretary of a military department to designate a member to assist spouses and other dependents of service members, including Reserve Component, who die on active duty. These advocates are available to provide support and address complaints by spouses and other dependents of deceased service members regarding casualty assistance or receipt of benefits authorized by law.
The Gold Star Lapel Button and the Lapel Button for Next of Kin of Deceased Personnel are symbols of honor bestowed on the family members who survive the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. These pins serve as a visual reminder of the sacrifices service members and their families have made.
