Finding the information needed to make informed decisions about education and early intervention services for family members with special needs just got easier. The Department of Defense's Education Directory for Children with Special Needs has recently been updated to better meet the needs of military families with special needs who are moving. Key updates include:
- Information on special education and early intervention services in the fifteen states with the highest concentration of military personnel, up from five states in the original release of the directory.
- Expansion of the School-Age Directory for children ages three to twenty-one to include information on providers and resources for autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavior disorders, and intellectual disabilities.
- Addition of an Early Intervention Directory, which provides information on early intervention providers and resources for infants and toddlers (birth through three years of age).
In addition to the state-specific information and resources provided, the directory provides valuable information and tools that all families can use to help with a smooth transition as they relocate with a family member with special needs.
