Marine Study Finds EFMP Enrollment Helps Readiness

Addressing the stigma that enrollment in the Exceptional Family Member Program may restrict career advancement, a recent U.S. Marine Corps study analyzed career progression of EFMP-enrolled Marines and determined that there is little evidence of any negative impact of EFMP enrollment on Marine career progression and promotion.

Streamlining the Family Member Travel Screening Process

To streamline and enhance travel screening forms and processes for military families relocating to remote or OCONUS locations, the Office of Special Needs and appointed medical representatives from the four services have worked collaboratively to implement the Family Member Travel Screening Pilot which has been extended for extra 90 days.

The Department of Defense recently published the first overarching Department of Defense Exceptional Family Member Program Instruction that provides guidance to the military departments by documenting policy, assigning responsibilities and recommending procedures.
