Key Leaders
Joseph Ludovici
Principal Director for Military Community and Family Policy
Mr. Joseph (Joe) Ludovici, assumed the duties of principal director for Military Community and Family Policy in November 2019.
A member of the Senior Executive Service, he is responsible for policy, advocacy and oversight of all community support to service members and families including quality of life issues; family and casualty assistance; morale, welfare and recreation programs; Military OneSource program; and policy oversight of the Defense Department’s commissary and exchange services.
Mr. Ludovici served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years as a civil engineer corps officer, with assignments leading public works services, construction and services contract administration, and leading Navy’s construction forces (Seabees).
He retired from active duty in 2006, and was selected into the Senior Executive Service as the Guam program office director later that year. He subsequently served the assistant secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installation and Environment) as deputy assistant secretary (Infrastructure Strategy and Analysis), and principal deputy assistant secretary (EI&E). His last assignment was as deputy commander, Commander Navy Installations Command.
