Kathleen Massey

Kathleen Massey is a graduate of the University of Southern California. She married in 1997 and experienced her first PCS to Kaneohe, Hawaii, where her husband served with 2d Battalion, 3d Marine Regiment. Katie worked at Saint Anthony’s School in the local community as a sixth- through eighth-grade teacher and participated in the battalion’s wives club. Her first of six children was born in 2000 when the family left active duty and affiliated with the Marine Corps Reserves. The family’s first reserve assignment was with 2d Battalion, 23d Marine Regiment. Over the course of several mobilizations and deployments Katie has diligently raised the children.

An active member of the community, she holds a board position at her children’s private school, serving as the treasurer. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Katie also works as the content creator for an online learning organization and works with young mothers to develop strong parenting and marriage skills via Mommy and Me programs. Katie has been an active participant in each of her husband’s commands where she contributed positively to the units’ command teams and command climate. Katie completed permanent change of station orders with her husband in 2019 to Marine Forces Reserve in New Orleans, Louisiana. Katie now lives in South Carolina and is excited to serve as a member of the Department of Defense Military Family Readiness Council.
