Caregiver Support Services

Benefit overview

For caregivers, each day can bring new questions and new challenges. Make sure you are accessing the resources and support you need to care for yourself and your loved one. Military OneSource offers several resources tailored specifically to the needs of caregivers and their families.

As a caregiver, you are an extremely important part of your loved one’s recovery team. You know them better than any doctor or nurse and may notice things they do not. As a key advocate for your loved one’s health, educating yourself about their condition will enable you to ask health care providers the right questions and help you anticipate your loved one’s needs.

Military OneSource’s Keeping It All Together notebook is a helpful way to organize your wounded warrior’s treatment and recovery in one place.

Additional support for caregivers

Each military service branch offers caregiver-specific support, including care coordination, counseling connections and specialized programs. Caregivers are encouraged to contact their service branch directly to learn about available resources, benefits and points of contact. Helpful starting points include the Caregiver Resources page, which provides numbers for service branches, and the Service Programs page, which links to official service branch caregiver and wounded warrior program websites.

Caregiver Action Network works to improve the quality of life for Americans who care for loved ones with chronic conditions, disabilities, disease or the frailties of old age. CAN serves a broad range of family caregivers, including the families and friends of wounded soldiers. CAN is a nonprofit organization providing education, peer support and resources to family caregivers across the country free of charge.

Whether you have been a family caregiver for years or are just starting this journey, find information on the wide range of support available from CAN to help you care for your loved one and yourself.

The National Resource Directory and Warrior Care introduce the eCRD, a military caregiver’s portable reference guide for all stages of the caregiver journey. This inclusive directory provides military caregivers with vetted resources and programs to empower them during their specific experiences.
