Military Heroes Honored
A new Department of Defense online memorial honors service members who died while serving honorably on active duty since 1985, including peacetime deaths. Survivors may submit names for inclusion.
The National Defense Authorization Act 2014, Section 633, requires each secretary of a military department to designate a specific member to assist spouses and other dependents of service members, including Reserve Components, who die on active duty.
The survivor representatives are available to provide support and address issues or concerns by spouses and other dependents of deceased service members regarding casualty assistance or receipt of military survivor benefits authorized by law. If you are a survivor and not satisfied with the casualty assistance provided by your service, contact your Gold Star and Surviving Family Member Representative. They are there to help, regardless of how and where your loved one died.
