Supporting Our Military Families: Best Practices for Streamlining Occupational Licensing Across State Lines, prepared by the Department of the Treasury and the DoD highlights the importance and challenges of state occupational licensing requirements for military spouses working in occupations or careers that require a license or certification. The report highlights best practices that states can pursue to help licensed military spouses, including: 

  • facilitating endorsement of a current license from another jurisdiction
  • providing license holders a temporary or provisional license allowing the military spouse to work
  • expediting application procedures
