Basic Allowance for Housing

Benefit overview

Basic Allowance for Housing is an additional pay that is intended to help service members pay for housing based on the housing costs in local civilian housing markets when government quarters are not provided. The amount of BAH a service member receives is based on his or her rank, the location of the housing and whether or not he or she has dependents.
