Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

Benefit overview

Employer Support of the Guard and reserve is a Defense Department office that works with civilian employers to resolve conflicts that arise due to Reserve Component service members’ military commitment. ESGR promotes cooperation and understanding with civilian employers through a network of more than 3,000 volunteers in 54 committees located across the nation. Together with headquarters ESGR staff and a small cadre of support staff for each State Committee, these volunteers work to promote and enhance employer support for military service in the Guard and reserve.

How this benefit helps

This benefit helps National Guard and reserve service members by working with their employers and helping to ensure that service members receive the full protections afforded to them by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994, or USERRA.
