The Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Programs assists veterans and their families in obtaining permanent and sustainable housing with access to high-quality health care and supportive services.

The VA strives to end homelessness among all veterans and their families by using evidence-based, innovative practices and partnerships that provide access to permanent housing and deliver other critical services. These veteran-centered, equitable and inclusive offerings empower veterans and enable their independence.

Use the VA programs to combat homelessness in veterans

If you are or know a veteran who is homeless or is at imminent risk of becoming homeless, contact the VA for assistance.

How to access this benefit

Support for veterans who are experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness is available in local VA Medical Centers, where VA staff are ready to help. Veterans and their families can also contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at 1-877-4AID-VET to be connected to VA services.

Community Resource and Referral Centers provide veterans who are homeless and at risk of homelessness with one-stop access to community-based, multiagency services to promote permanent housing, health and mental health care, career development and access to VA and non-VA benefits.
