Director, Marine and Family Programs Division

Marie C. Balocki is serving as the Director, Marine and Family Programs Division, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps. In support of its mission, the Division develops service-level policy and sponsors resource requirements that impact deployment readiness, behavioral health, physical fitness, professional and personal development, quality of life, single and family services, and wounded warriors.

Ms. Balocki is a career civilian employee and military spouse. She has served in positions overseas and throughout the United States at base, command, and Department of Defense levels. Prior to holding the Director position, she served as the Deputy Director, Marine and Family Programs Division. Previous to being selected for that position, Ms. Balocki served as the Executive Director for the Department of Defense Office for Reintegration Programs, also performing Duties as the Principal Deputy Director of the Family and Employer Programs and Policy Directorate. Ms. Balocki led the Department’s efforts to connect 1.1 million National Guard and Reserve service and family members with deployment, employment, and transition support. Ms. Balocki’s prior position was serving as the Family Programs Director for the Military Intelligence Readiness Command, a U.S. Army Reserve unit of 7,000 members across 32 states and overseas.

Prior to this Ms. Balocki served at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where she was the Installation’s Volunteer Coordinator, and subsequently the Youth Education Support Services Director and School Liaison Officer. Earlier positions include: Marketing Specialist for an Army Area Support Group at Chievres, Belgium and service with the Armed Forces YMCA in Anchorage, Alaska. Ms. Balocki began her career as a volunteer at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, working as a Family Programs volunteer coordinator for the installation. She held volunteer management positions at Fort Novosel, Alabama, Fort Cavazos, Texas, and for NATO at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, in Belgium.

Personal awards include the Secretary of Defense Exceptional Civilian Service Award, Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Award, Department of the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, Department of the Army Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, Department of the Army Commander’s Award for Public Service. Ms. Balocki graduated from Troy State University, Troy, Alabama, where she received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Ms. Balocki has served as President of several non-profit organizations and is a Certified Volunteer Administrator.
