Army Transition Assistance Program

Overview

The Army’s Transition Assistance Program provides information and training to prepare soldiers, Department of the Army civilians, retirees, soldiers’ family members and caregivers for the next step in their lives ─ whether that be pursuing education or finding a job.

TAP is administered locally at your TAP Center or the Army’s 24/7 Virtual Center if you are located more than 50 miles from a TAP center. The mandatory components of TAP are applicable to all service members who have at least 180 continuous days or more on active duty.

Start Transitioning Early

A study by Hiring Our Heroes found that service members are twice as likely to get a job before leaving active duty if they start their search at least six months before transitioning.
