Service Provider Courses

Overview

As a service provider, you play a vital role in supporting the well-being of service members and their families. The following courses are designed to build your knowledge and strengthen your ability to respond to complex challenges you may face. From crisis response to family support and inclusive programming, these trainings equip you with practical tools and guidance you can apply in your daily work.

Through these courses, you will learn how to:

  • Maintain personnel accountability during natural and man-made disasters and understand its critical role in emergency response
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to child abuse, neglect and domestic abuse, and connect individuals with Family Advocacy Program resources
  • Support individuals and families impacted by suicide and navigate the complexities of suicide loss
  • Provide effective support to children and families through evidence-based strategies and resources
  • Deliver MWR programs and services in ways that are inclusive and accessible for individuals with disabilities
  • Use the Defense Installation Messaging System, or DIMS, to communicate important information and resources
  • Assist service members and families with relocation planning using tools such as Plan My Move

In a crisis, every moment counts. This course will teach you how to effectively account for yourself and others during natural and man-made disasters.

This course gives an overview of the Family Advocacy Program and the services it provides, how to recognize signs of child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse, and safely communicate and offer FAP-related resources.
