Non-DoD Agency Seeks Confidential Input from Parents/Guardians of Children Affected by Abuse on Military Installations or as Military Dependents

Are you a parent or guardian of a child who has been affected by physical or sexual abuse (either by an adult or another child) on a military installation or as a military dependent, and would like to provide feedback to the federal government about your experience seeking assistance or care? If so, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO)—a federal agency that conducts independent, nonpartisan reviews for Congress—would like your input about available resources and assistance, case communication, and the investigative/adjudicative process, if applicable, as well as any suggestions for areas for improvement. We will not ask questions about any incidents themselves other than background information. However, we can only discuss incidents that were reported and that are closed from both an investigative and legal standpoint; we cannot talk about ongoing cases.

All conversations will be confidential and no personal identifying information will be reported. Additionally, you have the option to speak with either a female or male member of our staff and can specify your preference on our confidential survey response line. For more information or to schedule your confidential conversation, please contact GAO at 833-265-6169 or Any contact information provided will be used only to make contact at the caller’s request, and will not be distributed to anyone for any other purpose. You can contact us through September 2019.

Please note that our phone line is not staffed 24/7; however, if we miss your call, we will contact you the next business day to schedule our conversation. If you leave a message please leave a call-back number or email address so we can contact you. Again, no contact information will be reported or distributed to anyone. Appointments are available outside normal working hours, to include nights and weekends.
